The Southern Piedmont CLC represents 38 local unions, large and small covering different industries and crafts of work in 11 counties. No matter your craft, all workers should be allowed the right to free speech without threat of retribution from management. This should be true for all American workers. This should be true for people making our food, people staffing concerts and people servicing our airplanes. It should be true for those performing highly skilled, dangerous physical labor in a public and high pressure environment. No elected official should goad employers into terminating their employees for speaking their minds. That is what our country is founded on, that is what our movement has to be founded on. Justice for all.
In solidarity, Ashley Hawkins
In continuing with theme of threatening workers, here is a deep read on US Department of Labor appointees inbeing made by the current President- all managers and union busters. Link here.
On a more positive note, the NC Chapter of the APRI has received four awards at their 48th National Education Conference in Hollywood, Florida earlier this month. They have an active chapter in the Southern Piedmont and do lots of amazing work around community engagement and voter registration.
