May Day (May 1st) is recognized around the world as International Worker’s Day. Dedicated in the name of the American Workers slain by police as they attended a rally in Chicago’s Haymarket Square in 1886. May Day has never been recognized in America as a holiday. The US Congress gave our workers Labor Day, celebrated the first Monday of September and far removed from the bloody memory of state sanctioned violence that forged the early American labor movement.
Please join us this week at the phone banking, or the Labor Panel or next week at the screening of the documentary “Union Time” (all info below). In order to prevent the repeating of the past, we must gather in fellowship and work together to forge a better future. – In Solidarity, Ashley Hawkins
