My friends, it is solidarity of labor we want. We do not want to find fault with each other, but to solidify our forces and say to each other: We must be together; our masters are joined together and we must do the same thing.” – Mother Jones

#Red4Ed Wednesday, May 16th will be an historic event in our state.  Teachers without collective bargaining rights have taken collective action by taking personal days on Wednesday.  This broad show of worker power has shut down nearly 1/3 of school systems across the state. More than 15,000 teachers are expected to descend on the General Assembly to demand higher wages and better funding for our schools.

History Minute:  The key to organizing the South has always been solidarity across racial lines. It is as true now as it was in 1934 when the CIO set out to organize Winston-Salem tobacco workers in Operation Dixie.
