In case you missed it…THE FLIGHT LINE WORKERS AT BOEING IN CHARLESTON, SC WON THEIR ELECTION FOR UNION REPRESENTATION! WOOHOO!  The strength of worker’s in this country and our region continues to gain momentum! In solidarity, Ashley Hawkins

It's time to take the #Red4Ed movement to the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners. The public hearing on the budget is on June 4th at 5PM and we are asking the County Commissioners to fully fund the CMS budget request.

An increase to the county supplement, support for our EL students, funding for AVID, and funding for cultural proficiency training are only some of what was LEFT OUT of the County Manager's proposed budget, a budget that only included approximately 50% of what CMS requested.
Even if you can’t show up to support on June 4th, here are two things EVERYONE can do:

    1. Call and E-mail the Mecklenburg County Commissioners and ask them to fully fund the CMS Budget Request. A 2 page toolkit is located here. (and also attached) It has the contact information, an E-mail template, as well as the talking points as to why the County needs to prioritize our students and FULLY fund the CMS Budget request

    2. Share with others about the Public Hearing on June 4th at 5PM and the need for your friends and network to contact their County Commissioners and tell them to FULLY fund the CMS Budget request. The RSVP link is here.  And the Facebook event is located here.   You can also Forward this email to your networks.

It’s time to admit that strikes work

Community Activists and labor leaders demand answers in death of Charlotte construction workers

Union presence could benefit all workers at Boeing's North Charleston campus, experts say. A rising tide lifts all boats, who knew?

Politics. How will this new found movement of worker power influence November’s elections.  The new union movement can be the key to winning in 2018, if Democrats don't blow it
