SPCLC Weekly Newsletter June 10, 2018
    by admin Thrower

Hey folks, it’s getting hot out there.  People are travelling and going on vacation.  Other people are sweltering in manufacturing facilities, in trucks delivering goods and on construction sites.  Whether you are having fun or working hard, make sure to drink lots of water and stay safe! Apologies for the delay on this week’s newsletter, I myself have been travelling for work, but am looking forward to seeing you all in the Queen City for our CLC meeting next week!  Bring a friend and let’s kick the summer off cooking hot in the name of worker justice!    In solidarity, Ashley Hawkins

    Committees and delegates:

    ·       If you are a local union President, please send us an updated list of your delegates!

    ·       If you are delegate and have NOT been appointed to a committee and would be interested in working on Civil Rights, Community Service, Communication, or the Organizing Committee, please email spclcnewsletter@gmail.com

Poor People’s Campaign: On June 13th, 6-9PM the Freedom Center for Social Justice is hosting a Poster Making Party. Eat free pizza while you make signs! We’d love it if you joined us at Sacred Souls Community Church, 2127 Eastway Drive in Charlotte, NC. For more information write to info@fcsj.org

Sometimes, even Fox News will tell the truth.  Fox News Business recently reported on the favorability of labor unions with the American public.

The tide continues to turn in favor of organized labor… We have the numbers. We have the strength. The economy is on our side. Even the highest office in the land can not stop us now.  Trump Is No Reagan When It Comes to Union-Busting

The South gets a nod as the UAW elects new leadership. Ray Curry, District 8 Director, is up for the role of Secretary-Treasurer of the United  Auto Workers . Read more here.
