    SPCLC Worker's Weekly News April 9th

    The endorsements have been released! They are attached to this email so you can start getting the word out to friends and family to vote on May 8th. Early voting starts on Thursday, 19th! The CLC is proud of our decisions and there has been a lot of buzz around our endorsements. Keep your eyes peeled for the GOTV schedule!

    UPCOMING ACTIONS/GET INVOLVED

    Twitter Power Academy participants are killing it on Twitter! Help them out with a follow and a retweet if you are on the platform! Class resumes Tuesday at 6:00pm! See the list of participants here.

    For TEN years, Reynolds America, maker of cigarettes and tobacco products has refused to bargain with members of the Farm Laborer Organizing Committee. Join the fight against this unfair employer who refuses to acknowledge their moral complicity in their supply chain! Join the fight here! And look for info on a Charlotte Action coming soon!

    Stand with City Workers and Members of UE 150! Members of UE 150 will speak to Charlotte City Council on Monday, April 9th to petition city council for better health insurance coverage. Some workers are currently paying premiums for high deductible catastrophe only health insurance!  The City of Charlotte can and must do better for their workers!

    RECENT NEWS

    As the movement to raise the minimum wage in North Carolina Builds strength, public sector workers want in on the action.  Winston Salem City workers are calling for $15 an hour!

     

    NEXT MEETING:

    The April CLC meeting will be held Thursday, April 19th at the IBEW Hall.  1900 Cross Beam Drive, Charlotte NC.  Executive board to meet at 6:00pm. Meeting at 7:00pm. 

     

    APRI will meet Saturday April 21st @ 12:00pm. 5501 Executive Center Drive, Suite 230, Charlotte NC Don’t forget about the youth group that meets at 1:00pm!
